What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a simple, gentle healing method that allows you to absorb more life force energy.

Energy-based healing (Reiki) is a centuries-old practice.  Reiki nourishes your life force and balances the energies (chakras) in your body.  Our energy flow is known as Life Force energy.  

This natural healing energy flows in a profound and concentrated form through the hands of our practitioners.  The laying of hands guides the energy into the body of the receiver.  Our practitioners stay fully open to provide a clear channel for this this universal life energy. 

 Energy Healing recognizes that energetic imbalances and disturbances to energy flow, even subtle, are the cause of maladies. Our energy flow is known as Life Force energy.   If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get ill or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being healthy and feel optimal.  There are several school of thoughts such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, where energy is referred to as "chi" and energy pathways as "meridians." In Japanese medicine, this energy is referred to as "ki." And in ancient Indian medicine—Ayurveda—this life force is known as "prana" and travels on "nadis."

Western medicine refers to this energy as the biofield. Although it's an anomaly to traditional Western medicine and naked to the human eye, science validates its existence and modalities such as reiki are becoming widely accepted as complementary therapy in medicine.

• Reiki is an active form of meditation and stress reduction technique to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest).  Research has shown that eliciting the relaxation response and activating the PNS can provide numerous health benefits.

She is a registered Karuna Reiki ® Master Teacher & Usui/Holy Fire Reiki Master through the International Center for Reiki and professional member of the Reiki Membership Association. Shawn Marie Cichowski received all levels of training by a Licensed ICRT Reiki Master Teacher including Master Training by William Rand.
